Who We Are
In the Beginning…
TREAT-54 is the vision of three brothers born in Jamaica, raised in Savanna-la-mar, who migrated to the United States of America as children, but always found their way back “home.” The three brother’s love for their country and the family they left behind prompted them to always be ready to lend a helping hand in service to their community. This also built within them a sense of duty and commitment to the uplifting of their fellow man.
In 1995, after the accidental death of the middle brother, in memoriam to his spirit of mentorship and love for children, the remaining two organized and developed a mission for children’s services. With the support of their entire family, they galvanized their efforts, resulting in the very first TREAT day held on Dalling Street in the town of Savanna-la-mar in the parish of Westmoreland. In those days it was simply called a TREAT.
In 1999 one of the brothers having realized his life long dream became a Major League Baseball umpire. His uniform number 54, was then added to the existing TREAT, resulting in the name we have today, TREAT-54.
Today, only one brother remains but the vision has grown to include more services, specifically dedicated to combatting poverty through education.
Brotherhood, Service, and Community; the three pillars Westmoreland TREAT-54 Foundation were built upon.
